Our Story
Oswald Homes is proud to celebrate over half a century of building excellence and we’re happy to say that, like the homes we build, we’ve comfortably stood the test of time.
THE OSWALD HOMES STORY
The Oswald Homes story is one of the oldest in the Perth building industry. The first two general managers of the brand were designers and the underlying theme remained “style”.
When Julian Walter bought Oswald Homes on a handshake in 1983, he knew he had the makings of something special. How right he was. Over the years, the Oswald name has become synonymous with homes of great beauty and exceptional craftsmanship; a premier homebuilder with meticulous attention to detail and impeccable style.
Today, Oswald Homes is the flagship brand of the JWH Group, one of Western Australia’s largest building groups.

CLIENT STORY
Gary & Marion Webb
Built in 2000 & 2022
The Webb’s story begins 23 years ago when they built their first Oswald Home. Within one day of selling their original home, they engaged with Oswald Homes yet again to design and build their French Chateau-inspired residence in East Fremantle.
“After selling our first Oswald home, it took us less than 24 hours to decide to go back to them and embark on the building journey once more.”
CLIENT STORY
Brian Ferguson
Built in 1976
Completed by Oswald Homes in 1976, Brian’s West Shelley home has provided many great memories over the years. Some of the rooms remain the same, whilst future renovations and extensions have been a testament to the home’s quality structure.
“46 years later, this home still suits me just fine and remains as solid as when it was first built.”
CLIENT STORY
Spencer Davis
Built in 1973 & Former Trade
Employed by Oswald Homes in the early stages, Spencer Davis built his home in 1973, personally laying the brickwork himself (even adding additional steps for his beloved cat). 49 years later most of the Hillarys’ home is still in its original form and has comfortably stood the test of time.
“The bricks were laid with my very own hands and apart from one extension we haven’t needed to make any changes to the original home.”
CLIENT STORY
Merrill
Built in 1972
One of Oswald Homes’ very first clients, Merrill moved into her Kardinya house in late 1972. Today, the home has the original wet areas with the structure remaining of high quality, undergoing several renovations over the years.
“I wanted to create a keepsake for my grandson from my original home. During one of our renovations, some of the original jarrah roof beams had to be removed, I used this to create a toy truck which I hope will be a special family heirloom passed on to generations to come.”
