Comeback curves

Project feature, Gallerie

Oswald Homes Designer, Franco Ranallo, expects to see curves making a comeback in home design for 2025.

“I think a significant design and style trend we will see take off in 2025 will be the sexy curves,” he says.

“Curves are taking shape not only across floorplans and layouts, but also across elevations by way of feature curved walls, arched windows and doorways and even curved roof canopies on the more extreme level of things.

“We are also beginning to include curved staircases in some designs, which gives a more elegant effect of transitioning between floor levels. The super cool and funky spiral staircase is also still serving a great purpose for rooftop terraces, or indeed in the opposite direction, to service basements and cellars underground.”

Franco also anticipates curves to feature internally – for example, island benches and ceiling bulkheads in kitchens.

“Furthermore, curves will be evident in organically curved mirrors in bathrooms and ensuites, and with softer curves depicted in loose furniture pieces, like tables, couches and some free-standing cabinetry.

“Curves evoke a sense of direction and traffic flow in a space or room, while also inducing feelings of calm, comfort and cosiness. This is of prime importance with the pace of life today,” Franco adds.
